Trying to cash in on the success of Twilight and HBO’s True Blood, the CW, the same network that excreted Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill decided it would be a great idea to resuscitate L.J. Smith’s oh-so-crappy book saga, The Vampire Diaries. And it is as bad as it sounds. This story follows the adventures of Elena Gilbert, a little high school teen queen who falls for the mysterious new boy, Stefan Salvatore. Stefan is hoping to escape his dark past by repeating high school in the American system of public education, something we all know, vampires just love to do. Stefan sees Elena and instantly falls in love with her since she is the reincarnation of a girl named Katherine, a 16th Century German vampire seductress who sires Stefan and his brother, Damon, during Renaissance Italy.
Everything seems to be going peachy for handsome Stefan and beautiful Elena until his evil and handsome-in-a-badass-way Damon shows into town and wants to frame Stefan for all his murders and get into Elena’s pants. The result? Another supernatural love triangle that the CW hopes will lure legions of sucker-crazed tweens to their horrible, horrible network.
In world where a vampire’s idea of keeping a “low profile” is to blend in a high school filled with menstruating females, and said vampire enjoys reading and writing in his journals, the CW hopes to bring their unique brand of shitty to this post-Anne Rice cultural gang-rape of the vampire archetype.
Bra-vo.

haha, this is a spot-on review. I just saw the pilot at comic con yesterday (not on purpose, the Mythbusters were up next in that room, got in early so I wouldn’t have to stand in line for an hour) It was horrible. It was about 10 minutes of actual dialogue surrounded by shots of the characters in deep thought surrounded by blaring emo music.
C новым годом!
