“Ophelia” by British Pre-Raphaelite artist Sir John Everett Millais was completed in 1852.
I was lucky to see it in person at @tatebritainlondon. It captures a solemn moment right before a singing Ophelia drowns in a river in Denmark. Her expression always bewitches me...that exquisite madness of the water creeping closer and overtaking. I spent a significant part of my academic career studying the Pre Raphaelites and their influence in Latin American Modernismo. In fact, @museoarteponce in Puerto Rico is home to a marvelous collection of Pre Raphaelite art. A print of this particular work is now prominently displayed in my dining room. I did a lot of theater in school and college and part of me would love to return to the stage as well as behind-the-scenes. I love writing plays and I am especially fond of lighting and set design.
